September 2010 Photo Contest Submissions - "Lend a Hand. Make a Difference"

Congrats to JohntheDrummer for winning our last photo contest with his spectacular "Lets See Your Raptor" shot! (see it and everyone else's awesome pics here: http://www.svtoffroad.com/showthread...ur-Raptor-quot).

As the winner, JohntheDrummer gets to pick this month's theme. His idea? "Lend a Hand. Make a Difference". In John's own words

I think it would be nice to encourage our fellow Raptonians to help out our fellow man (or woman). The world needs more of that today, and why not do it in style with a Raptor!
    I agree! Well said John.

John's pick for this month's theme: Lend a Hand. Make a Difference
    Submission Deadline: Sunday, September 5th

Get out there and help in any way that you can and is meaningful to you; help a stranded motorist, help a stray dog, collect trash, help a friend move, make a donation run to your local second hand store... basically take a picture of you and your Raptor in the act of "lending a hand and making a difference".

    Here's the rules:

    1) One entry per member, per contest.
    2) SVTO member must take the photo.
    3) Member's Raptor must be in the photo.
    4) Photograph must be taken for this contest - no previous shots allowed. Come on... get off the couch and go shoot something new.
    5) Photoshopping is not allowed except for modifying the license plate, brightness and contrast (full B&W'ing is ok), and crop/resize.
    6) Maximum size - 800 x 600. Oversize photos will not be allowed. Resizing available if needed; PM BigJ.
    7) The winner will be responsible for deciding upon the theme of the following month's contest, and is not eligible to win that contest (they can participate, however they're shot won't be put up for vote).
    8) Submissions need to be posted to THIS thread, any time before the deadline listed above. Submissions posted elsewhere will not be counted.

A new thread will be created once the submission deadline passes, with all of the rule-following pictures listed for voting. Members will get to vote for their favorites, and the highest vote getting shot wins!

PS: We need an "official" sponsor for this contest. Until then (and until I run out), I'll send the winner a Matchbox car Raptor!

Congratulations John! And thanks to everyone who participated in the 1st photo contest.

Funny thing about your choice of the next contest subject:

I came upon this poor girl stuck in the snow in her little red Corvette

She was clearly very upset about being stuck

I was more than willing to help her out

But this was before I had my Raptor so I had to leave her there for someone else to rescue

I later heard she did it on purpose as a way to meet guys

Damn, if only I had my raptor last summer.

I was in the Philippines, with a rescue and aid team.
We were giving food and supplies to survivors of a violent mudslide in an all ready tough to get to location.

here are a couple pictures: (kinda hard to top dan's photos...)

These are the banners of the rescue and aid groups.

This used to be the entrance to the town of Tubungan. houses and people lived on this access road that was completely swept away by the mudslide. the rice paddies in the the rright of the picture was the only way for the survivors to travel to higher ground.

theses are only a few of the survivors, the nearest town gave their basketball stadium and park as a place of refuge for the people. Many of these people had elderly that had to be airlifted out of the devastated town. Only 4x4 vehicles could traverse the muddy terrain

My truck, that we used. we had to carry around a dozen or so people on the truck bed.

this 1 ton truck was brought 5 miles away from it original location atop the mountain. the cab portion was found a couple miles farther down the mudslide
